Hi girlies! Holothon post 2. Today I have something really sweet and bitchy – no pun intended. I used The Nail Junkie’s grape jelly as a base and topped it with ….. Wait for it ….. Darling Diva Polish’s Bitch Panties ( the name really gives me the giggles).
I want to talk about the grape jelly from TNJ. It’s a grape jelly with tiny holo flakes in it. The holo bits tend to sink to the bottom of the bottle so a good roll helps.
It applies really easily and you can see tiny holo flakies. This color reminds me of grape icing on top of a super sweet sticky donut. Haha!
Now for the bitchy topper, it’s a holographic lavender grey. Texture wise it’s just right and cos its quite sheer, you can apply a couple of coats without covering up the base color.
Sorry about the photo spam, I can’t quite decide if this is scattered or linear holo. Maybe I will try to take some more pics under the sun tomorrow. But isn’t it pretty? Wonder why it’s named bitch panties…. What do you guys think?
Hi lovelies. Received some really bad news this evening and I needed a really bright mani to cheer me up.
I have here The Nail Junkie’s apple green shimmer. It’s been sitting in my helmer for a long while and I have been wanting to swatch this for ages. It’s a cool jelly bright apple green. Reminds me so much of those sour apple candies that I love 🙂
I used three layers and topped it with one layer of ATG’s spotty dotty white. And then one more later of apple green to complete the jelly sandwich.
For The base, THJ’s formula is really nice and ‘jelly-ish’. The holo’s pretty subtle and shines thru nicely. I love it that the polish does not have that strong smell that most polishes have. And I adore the ‘squishy,jelly-ish’ effect of this polish (did I mention that jelly is my fave food?).
I decided to top this with ATG’s spotty dotty white. This was really easy to work with for a glitter polish. It has matt white glitter in all sorts of shapes and sizes. The base is slightly thick but that makes it easier to scoop the glitters out as it is suspended instead of sinking to the base.
What do you all think? Please feel free to drop me comments, I would love to hear from you!
I had a mini haul from The Nail Junkie recently. First up, I am super impressed with how the polishes are packed. Each bottle is housed in a really nice mini ‘tube’ which protects the bottle from breakage and looks great! On top of it all, with ANY purchase, you get a package of glitter remover wipes and for every 2 bottles, you get a artisan Cutie Balm.
On with the swatch –
Rose Pink from The Nail Junkie
This is from the Spring 2012 collection. Its a sweet pink, but not too ‘Barbie-ish’ – a thinking woman’s pink perhaps (LOL).
Usually I am not in to pinks, but this worked pretty well as it dries matt, giving it an edgy finish. I gave my tips a ‘bling’ finish with the Blaze’s Sparkelicious to red hot mama. As this is my FIRST matt polish, I could not really compare the application with anything. One thing for sure, you have to work FAST.
How do you like it? 🙂
