Hi dearies! On to the nail stuff.
Check out this limited edition colour from Girly Bits – Smurf Dance.
I don’t have that many blue shades in my collection cos I always thought its not an easy colour to wear but check out this glitter bomb! I applied this over one coat of light holo blue so I dont have to apply too many coats of Smurf Dance (saving it since its LE). It’s got an assortment of holo, Matt and bling glitter packed in to one neat bottle of polish. I can’t help but stare at my nails all the time cos it’s such a blingy and pretty shade. No application issues whatsoever, in fact I didn’t even dab any glitter on my nail. No fishing needed. Overall a must buy for all you glitter and holo lovers out there. I got mine from mei mei signatures and she ships worldwide. Hurry cos it’s a limited edition and once all sold out it will not be replenished.
Wat do you all think of this shade?
Thanks for reading and I would love to hear from you! 🙂
Hi Lovelies! Sorry I have been behind in my posts lately cos I have been away for two weekends in a row… 🙂
This week, Teal Tuesday is especially meaningful as we are raising awareness for ovarian cancer. Teal is the ribbon color for awareness and support of ovarian cancer and September is the National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.
Some information on Ovarian Cancer that we might not be aware of from their website –
Ovarian Cancer is one of the most deadly of women’s cancers. Each year, approximately 21,880 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In 2010, approximately 13,850 women will die in the United States from ovarian cancer. Many women don’t seek help until the disease has begun to spread, but if detected at its earliest stage, the five-year survival rate is more than 93%. Recent research suggests that together the four symptoms of: bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly and urinary urgency or frequency may be associated with ovarian cancer.
Anyway, on with the nail stuff!
This mani almost did not happen as I just got my nail mail on Tuesday which consisted of Hits Holo blue and Klean Colour’s Holo Chrome and REALLY wanted to swatch it.
I used both of them and did a gradation glitter mani. Then I got to thinking, how about a duochrome holo? Wouldn’t that be totally blingtastic!? So I topped this with Girly Bit’s Street Magic. This combination yielded a blingtastic, duo chrome holo that flashes blue, green, gold, holo…. and then stamped it with BM ribbon plate in silver.
Check it out!
How do you find the effect?
Would you try a duochrome-holo?

Hi sweets! I dunno about you guys out there but yes I am guilty of being swept in by the Clarins 230 craze. I confess I considered getting a bottle of it from evil bay! Good thing sense and kismet prevented me from doing this because darling Max Factor came up with the wonderful Fantasy Fire! I shan’t bore you with the blood, sweat and tears that took me to swap the first bottle BUT my nail polish fairy in the form of Annette from Shoppe Eclecticco bought them in from the UK!!! (victory dance).
At the same time, I read somewhere that Pam from Girly Bits created a dupe too!! Of course I immediately rushed to get a bottle from my other nail polish fairy Mei Mei from Mei Mei Signatures.
I am going to do a blow by blow comparison and please excuse the picture spam 🙂
First, check out the bottle shots!
As you can see, girly bits weighs in much more as fantasy fire is such a teeny tiny little bottle! That being said, the size of the bottles in no way affects the brush of either. They both apply beautifully with no drag and the formula of both are neither too thick or too thin. Very nice!
On to the effect on my nails. I topped both under the Nars dupe that I bought from Bangkok. It’s a very very dark almost black green.
I stared at my nails for a while and frankly I cannot tell the difference. Both are multichromes that shifts from olive green, red, purple and green.
It’s like mini bursts of shimmer in your nails.
FF has a strong purple jelly base whereas SH has a slightly red base. It’s quite neutral and for that reason, I suspect it will work better with lighter bases as compared with FF.
I am going to try both with different variations of dark polishes and see how they differ. One thing for sure, I can’t tell the difference for this base that I am using.
If you are lemming for unicorn pee, I would say scoring either are not shabby alternatives at all.
Check out more of the multichrome goodness under the sun 🙂
